Step of Faith... Un Paso de Fe...

A Step of Faith

In September of 2008 I began a new phase in my life. Since then I have been refocusing my perspective in life and renewing my faith in God. From the moment I decided to recommit my life to God I knew He would take care of me. All I needed to do was to trust Him completely. He has been merciful (as He always is) and I have been blessed with all kinds of blessings since then. Each day I can see His love in my life. At times it has not been easy, but I have experienced a peace and happiness that goes beyond any circumstance around me.

After teaching 2 years in Egypt I am back in Guatemala staying with my brother, sister, nieces and nephews. My mom is planning to come visit from California in December!

Professionally there are exciting possibilities ahead for me. Doors are opening for me to teach in Guatemala, US, Germany and South Africa in the near future. No matter where I go (or if I stay) I will continue seeking His will for my life. Living life with Jesus is the most awesome adventure one can imagine!

A Step of Compassion

In 1997 a young American woman accepted an invitation which would literally change her life and hundreds of lives. She was invited by a friend to visit the Guatemala City Dump. There, she saw how hundreds of children walked knee-deep in the trash looking for recyclable materials to sell and help their parents make a living. She decided she had to do something about this. She sold her car, furniture and electronics back in Maine and founded a daycare and meal program in the area for those children. Twelve years later Safe Passage serves approximately 500 children and their families providing meals, educational support and medical assistance. Please visit http://safepassage.org/ for more details and consider supporting this amazing organization. When I arrived in Guatemala in early October I stumbled upon the Safe Passage website and immediately I decided this was something I needed to do. I began volunteering on November 2 and I love it! I have been helping with Summer School assisting regular teachers in all kinds of activities. A couple of days ago we visited the Zoo!

If you would like to learn more about Jesus there are two excellent books I recommend: More than a Carpenter by Josh McDowell and Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis.

Lewis.

Closing Cairo chapter. Cerrando capitulo Cairo.

This is my last blog from Cairo!! Crazy how time flies huh!! It feels as if it was yesterday when I was walking the streets of Maadi with a map!! :o) These past two years have been an amazing adventure. Besides exploring Egypt I had the opportunity to travel in Spain, Jordan, Greece, Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Austria, Slovakia, Germany, Czeck Republic, Poland, and Israel. Here in Cairo and in my travels I was so blessed meeting wonderful people. I am thankful for their friendship.

Socrates said that "an unexamined life is not worth living." This last semester I did a lot of soul-searching and I as the prodigal son I decided to go back home. I began attending Maadi Community church. I missed only one Sunday because I was in Luxor! This has been the biggest blessing of all while I've been in Egypt. Being back in my Father's House! On June 24 I go back to Guatemala. My life is being renewed by the love and tenderness of my Abba Father.

The Cairo Tower was the perfect ending to two amazing years!

Luxor, Hurghada and Egyptian Museum.

Luxor is 14 hours south of Cairo by train. A mid-size city by the Nile where you can find temples, tombs, monuments, built 3 thousand years ago. The famous Valley of the Kings is there. I rented a bike and just strolled around ruins around the city for 4 days.

Hurghada is 5 hours east of Luxor on the red sea by minibus. The town itself really isn't much, but the reef is spectacular. The diversity of the fish and the colors of the reef were stunning. I want an underwater camera! I did 2 incredible dives for 28 US dollars. This included equipment, hotel pick up, boat and lunch!

The Egyptian museum is another amazing place in Cairo. The amount of antiquities is astounding. The Tutankhamen funerary chamber is out of this world. There is so much to see that you literally need a few days in the museum.

We want your soul !!

"We Want Your Soul" is a 2003 breakbeat song by British DJ and producer Adam Freeland; the song made the Top 40 charts in several countries, and resulted in an award-winning music video [1]. It is the first song to which Freeland wrote the lyrics [2], he describes it as being "about the destructive side of consumer culture", and about how commercialism is inescapable. Rather than being sung, the song's verses are spoken by a speech synthesizer; the song also features a sample of Bill HicksThe Target Corporation sought to license We Want Your Soul for use in an advertising campaign [3], which Freeland refused.

For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs. 1 Tim 6:7

"The Power of Enough" is a book that expands on this idea

Supernatural. Sobrenatural.

Supernatural

On Easter Sunday millions of people around the world celebrate the resurrection of a man called Jesus. According to the Bible this man rose from the dead and walked amongst the living for 40 days.

What ?! Is that possible ?! Resurrection ?!

Many people say it is crazy or ridiculous to believe that a man could rise from the dead. They also would probably consider insane that a man would claim that He was God. Well, that's just what Jesus claimed during his ministry and that's why he was crucified, for blasphemy. For claiming He was God.

Either Jesus was a lunatic and a liar, or He is who He said he was.

What do you think ?!

Sobrenatural
